About Philip H. Brown
Philip H. Brown is an experienced economist in Washington, D.C., specializing in development economics. His most recent career experience includes serving as Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Economics for Colby College and as Coeditor for China Economic Review. Currently, Philip H. Brown holds a position as an economist for GeoSource Capital. Earlier in his career, he gained experience working abroad as a Camp Manager at the International Rescue Committee in Tanzania and as a Project Associate at Help Age Zimbabwe. Philip H. Brown maintains a focus on utilizing economic theory to address pressing social issues both in America and overseas. As an educator and academic, his primary interests include issues involving education, the environment, health, poverty, inequality, and gender. Mr. Brown's scholarly works have appeared in publications such as Time Magazine, the New York Times, and the popular book Superfreakonomics. His work has also appeared on NPR's program, All Things Considered.
Philip H. Brown earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Political Economy at Colorado College, graduating magna cum laude in 1993. He subsequently earned a Master's degree in International and Intercultural Management through the School for International Training in 1996. Continuing his education at the University of Michigan, Philip H. Brown completed his education with a Master of Arts in Economics a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics. For his Ph.D. dissertation, he wrote Poverty, Education, and Intrahousehold Bargaining: Evidence from China.
